World Health Day Theme of ‘Halt the Rise, Beat Diabetes’ was celebrated at Manipal Teaching Hospital jointly by the Departments of Internal Medicine and Community Medicine with the help of the students of B.Sc (Nsg) and PCL of Manipal College of Medical Sciences Nursing Programme. With the following events:-
- A health exhibition was held from 2nd April onwards which was well attended by a number of patients and their family members
- A Health Camp was organised from 5th to 7th April with free random blood sugar testing for individuals at risk. A total of 331 individuals were tested out of which 102 showed higher levels of blood sugar. These individuals have been advised to visit the OPD for further check up
- During the Health Camp, Therapeutic Diets for patients suffering from diabetes were displayed and explained in the local language by the Nursing Students
- A very well attended Post Graduate symposium was held on 7th April at Dhanwantary auditorium coordinated by Professor SC Kohli, Chief Internal Medicine Wing.
