Martyrs’ Day observed at Deep Campus
Magh 16, in the Nepali Lunar calendar every year is marked as the National Martyrs’ day, commemorating those who were executed by the autocratic Rana rulers for voicing the people’s rights. It is observed specifically in memory of the four shahids of Nepal, Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Dashrath Chand, Gangalal Shrehtha and Shukra Raj Shastri. In Deep campus MCOMS, this day was observed in memory of all the known and unknown martyrs of all countries who sacrificed and suffered to protect human rights, democracy and equality.
The Martyr’s Day, one of the very important days in the history of Nepal was celebrated with a sense of gratitude and reverence. The event was graced by the all the students of MCOMS, belonging to different countries. The students hoisted the national flag and sang national anthem with a great delight and happiness in everyone’s heart. A March Parade paid homage to the martyrs. The students sported traditional Nepali Bhadgaule Topi with the badge of Khukuri on it worn as a symbol of national pride. The event was accompanied by poems and speeches by the students and Faculty remembering the vision, ethos and values for which the martyrs’ sacrificed. The students reinforced their beliefs in upholding those values for the betterment of society and country.
