Dr B M Nagpal is leading the team at Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS), Pokhara, Nepal and has been instrumental for various initiatives of the Manipal Group at MCOMS for the last 10 years. He, along with his team, has been the driving force of MCOMS to achieve its vision and goals of excellence in medical education and providing comprehensive health care at affordable cost.

 

Dr Nagpal has brought about various changes in the work culture by adopting newer, less conventional approaches to deal with diverse and multifaceted undertakings of the prestigious Manipal Group’s first international foray. He has been taking a long-term view and sets goals for the future with a strategic perspective. He consciously focuses on details, enjoys methodical and organised processes and has been ensuring achieving goals with continuous persistence within the stipulated timeframe.

 

Dr Nagpal has been relentlessly promoting MCOMS as a quality medical education destination for international students and his earnest efforts have yielded rich dividend in terms of increased number of international students on MCOMS and many more aspiring to join MCOMS.

 

Prior to joining MCOMS, Dr Nagpal after graduation and post-graduation in General Surgery from prestigious Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) served the Army Medical Corps (AMC) for 36 years in various military hospitals throughout the length and breadth of India and also served in other countries on deputation. While in service, he was twice awarded Vishist Sewa Medal (VSM) by the President of India for rendering meritorious services and also commendation by Chief of Army Staff.

 

During latter part of the service he served at AFMC as Head of the Dept of Surgery and was member of various committees of Poona University and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. He is also member of various professional associations and organised number of institutional and national conferences. He has several publications and presentations to his credit in both national and international journals / conferences and has also contributed a chapter in a reference book of Surgery. He has been examiner for both undergraduate and post-graduate programs of various Universities and also DNB.
