Internship is the phase of compulsory training, a medical graduate has to undergo at the completion of his Final MBBS Degree Course, so that he / she becomes eligible for the award of MBBS Degree by the Kathmandu University and registration from the respective Medical Councils.

Goals and Objectives: Exposure of health problems pertaining to the under developed & developing countries. As it is expected in developing countries, a majority of the health problems in Nepal are related to the environment and lower socio-economic status. These include GI disturbances, ARI infectious diseases, vector-borne diseases, TB, and leprosy. Other conditions are associated with severe / moderate malnutrition especially in children. In adults, cirrhosis of liver is a problem even amongst women since alcohol consumption is an accepted social behaviour. Maternal & Child Health problems like high MMR,IMR,CMR due to poor ANC and related conditions. Iodine Deficiency Disorders, Anemia, vitamin A deficiency are also prevalent. Other cases seen are rheumatic fever and heart disease, worm infestations, diseases related to smoklng, malignancies, collagen and skin diseases. There is also an increase in the number of HIV/AIDS cases.

Manipal Teaching Hospital is a Tertiary Care Hospital for the entire Western Region of Nepal. The facilities available at this Hospital are: Experienced Super Specialist’s care, 24 hour functional Operation Theatres, Dialysis Centre, Radiation Therapy for Cancer, Casualty / Emergency Services, Intensive Care Unit, Intensive Cardiac Care Unit, Neuro surgery Intensive Care Unit & Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, CT Scan, Ultra sound, X Ray, Laboratory Services (Pathology, Bio Chemistry & Microbiology ), Radiation Therapy, Blood Bank, Dispensary and a Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Department.
