The objective of the Manipal Teaching Hospital is Educating Future Physicians, Discovering Tomorrow’s Cures, and Providing Community Care
Manipal Teaching Hospital (MTH) provides clinical education and training to future and current doctors, nurses, and other health professionals, in addition to delivering medical care to patients. It is affiliated with Kathmandu University and is owned by Manipal College of Medical Sciences. It consists of 865 beds multi specialty with state of the art facilities including imaging and diagnostic facilities, Specialty Intensive Care, research and development facilities and specialized training for doctors.
It was established primarily for imparting Medical Education including Health Sciences Education for Clinical Sciences Students of MCOMS. At the same time the MTH provides health care services from its Tertiary Care Hospital as well as Community Satellite Health Centre and undertakes scientific. The teaching hospital has a commitment to research and is a center for experimental, innovative and technically sophisticated services. The teaching hospitals also serve as safety net providing treatment to patients without any cost.
Some of the specialised facilities at the teaching hospital include neonatal ICUs; surgical transplant services; trauma centres; paediatric ICUs; Neuro Surgery ICU etc. In addition to serving as the training ground for the vast majority of new physicians and other health professionals each year, MTH fill other significant roles, as well. It is where medical knowledge continuously evolves and new cures and treatments are found. It is where critical community services, such as trauma and burn centres, always stand ready, forming a very vital part of Western Nepal’s Health System.
MTH also runs residency & Elective programmes, which range in length and Subject. Newly graduated physicians gain the clinical experience and knowledge they need to become effective and highly qualified doctors.
Educating Future Physicians
Every year, more than 300 students earn their MBBS, Post Graduate degree after their last phase of the journey at MTH to full medical licensure and board certification—and begin the graduate stage of medical education
