The Department Supports the semester I to IV of the MBBS programme MBBS Programme and imparts education through didactic lectures and practical information dissemination at the dissection hall by way of providing computer based teaching as well as for self directed study. It is envisaged to established cytogenetic laboratory in the department of anatomy for research and to provide laboratory services to patients from MTH. The anatomy museum is being upgraded by adding new specimens, wall charts, human skeletons and internet accessible computers for self directed study.

Teaching programme in anatomy and is fully equipped histology laboratory having facilities for microtomy, staining and equipment for audiovisual presentation of slides etc.

The Department is headed by Prof. Shrikant Akolekar, formerly, Head, Human Genetic Division, Dept. of Anatomy, Medical College, Baroda, India( 1980- 86) and Director, IVF and Genetic Clinic, Baroda, India (1986- 2002). The Department is ably supported by 5 Lecturers and support staff.

The department has published over 15 research papers and has 3 ongoing research projects

  1. Phanindra Prasad Poudel: Study on variation of termination external jugular vein.
  2. Phanindra Prasad Poudel: Comparative study of fetal weight and placental parameters on smoking and nonsmoking Nepalese mothers.
  3. Chacchu Bhattarai: Comparative Study of thickness of frontal bone on CT scan focusing on pressure distributed area between load carrying and load not carrying Nepalese Population.
