Document Circulation Services

General books are issued to postgraduates, research scholars and faculty members for 15 days. The numbers of books varies according to the status of the library users. The library lends books to undergraduate students only for overnight period but during the university exam students are given for a four days period as home lending. Bound, unbound journals and CDs are issued only to the faculty members.

Reference Service

Reference Service is provided to users on the basis of its collection. The library staff assists the user to locate needed information from the available information resources interpreting library collection for study and research.

Photocopying Service

Through this service library provides photocopies of articles from journals and books to the users as and when requested.

Current Awareness Service

Library has used four main ways to help health science professionals keep current:
• Displays of new books/ journals
• New acquisition list of books
• New arrival list of journals
• Bibliographic data-base

Computer Service

The computer labs of the libraries are furnished with 10 Multimedia computers at each library (Deep and Phulbari) and offer the following computer services to users

1)Internet browsing and online journals access with 24 hours radio link on broadband

a) HINARI through World Health Organization
b) Journals through INASP /PERI (International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publication/ Program for Enhancement of Research Information) can be access international academic and scholarly information through on-line full text journals. This online journal service is provided through Tribhuvan University, Central library the country coordinator for Nepal.

2) Facilities for preparing paper presentation
3) Printing facility
4) CD-ROM Service

The CD-ROM collection of the library contains bibliographical databases, full text databases and A.D.A.M Comprehensive CD. The bibliographical databases include MEDLINE on Silver Platter. Full text databases include back volumes of medical journal articles, review articles, textbooks, encyclopedias etc.

In-house database:

Library has created non-numerical databases of its collection using CDS/ISIS 1.5 (build 3) for Windows.
